Words That Shouldn't Be

1. Spearheading
2. Drive, in any sense other than "operate a vehicle" or "move cattle"

(Why yes, I am still writing things for Microsoft. How could you tell?)

I like "drive" for all sorts of applications:

"We'll drive the enemy from their hiding places!"

"Current economic conditions are driving stock prices to historic lows"

"Dagny was the driving force behind Taggart Transcontinental"

Well, Microsoft mid-level executives share your enthusiasm.

Although I think Rand would have used "motive power" to describe Dagny's influence.
